My Friends Christmas card

Hi blogger friends!

I had a terrific Christmas day with my sister and her family. Here is a photo of Doug and myself. We have had such a hard three years battling cancer but 2011 is going to be a stress free year.
This is the card I made for my dear friend Patti Jo. She sent me this stamped image so the least I could do was make her a Christmas card with it. Just had a thought....do butterflies fly around when it is snowing?

Snuck another Christmas card in

Yes! I know I said I had finished my Christmas cards but I found I needed one more.
This one is very glittery. The cardstock I have used is a thick glitter one. It looks real nice in real life.
I used Spellbinder nestabilities to put Tilda on. She is colored with distress inks and I then put  Star Dust Stickles on her dress which was colored with Victorian Velvet distress re inkers. The tag is also a Spellbinders tag and the sentiment is computer generated. Hope you like it.

This is a close up showing the glitter

And this is showing the little angel charm. Rather cute I thought.

Christmas Hugs

Hi Friends!
This Magnolia stamp of Tilda is called 'Tilda wants a hug' and she can brought from Diana here. She is from the 2010 Christmas collection. My dear friend gave this stamp to me for Christmas. Wasn't I blessed?
The card is quite a simple one for posting. I have found out the hard way how much it costs to post cards with all the trimmings.
I have colored Tilda once again with Distress inks.
Her dress is colored with Dusty Concord
Hair: Walnut stain
Face: Antique Linen
Cheeks: Tattered Rose
Holly in her hair: Bundled sage and berries.. Barn door.

Another Christmas card

Hello Fellow Crafters!
This is another take on the same Tilda stamp. You can tell I haven't got a lot of Tilda Christmas stamps. Once again I have colored her with distress inks and have put an MS border down the sides.
Hugs Maz...A woman of very few words hehe.

Traditional Christmas

Hi Friends!
This is a card I made to enter the Magnolia-Licious Front page.
It has to be in green and red and have a Christmas tree. Yeh! I know it's not much of a tree
I have colored Tilda with distress inks.

                                                                            A close up.

Christmas Tilda

Hi Blogger Friends!

Today I decided to color with Prismacolor pencils and odourless white spirits (Gamsol).
I find them so easy to use. I have used some of the new Stampin up papers.
Made the rose and leaves myself. Distressed the edges and did some faux stitching.
These days my machine stitching is rather crooked. I am pleased with my coloring on this card but not so the layout.
Oh! it is so good to be back crafting and feeling well. I go again to the hospital on Monday.
This time I will be having an ultrasound on my stomach and liver. Praying all will be well.

Christmas Gifts

Hi Blogger Friends!

Another Christmas card done. Only about 25 more. At this rate I will be here till Christmas..hehe!!
I have tried to find the name of this Tilda and haven't been successful. She is a favourite of mine. I have coloured her using Distress Inks. The rest is pretty much self explanatory.
No DP's this time. Just embossing on plain cardstock and some flowers that I coloured the edges and made the leaves.

Blessed Christmas

Hi Friends!
To those that wanted to know my prgress....
I went back to the hospital yesterday for my first checkup since being out of hospital. It wasn't the best news that I would have liked. The Urologist said that because the cancer had gone outside the kidney and into the fat surrounding and the renal vein it would be more than likely  the cancer will return. At the moment they have removed all the cancer that they could see and say I am cancer free at this time. The good thing is that they have a new chemo treatment for this that is meant to be very good so that is a plus if it does rear it's ugly head again.

Now onto my card....This is my first Christmas card. I thought I had better get started as I am so slow these days. I used the new Stampin Up Designer papers and cardstock and coloured Tilda with distress inks. This time I didn't make the flowers and have ones on that friends have given me (I'm very lucky).
The Tilda I used is called "Tilda with Violin" and can be brought at Diana's store here.

Best Friends

Hi Friends,

I thought I would try out this scrunched up flower. I have seen it a few times and don't know where it first originated. I made this one with cardstock sprayed with water to soften it and then scrucnhed it up. The punches I used are the medium retro flower punch and the large one. I also coloured the edges with some ink.

Hi,
It has been a month since I last posted. I had my operation and am slowly improving.
I don't think I would like to go through that again and hopefully I never will.
I see the Urologist on the 26th and will know more then. The cancer had spread outside the kidney but as far as I know they got it all.
This month is breast cancer awareness month. As a survivor of breast cancer I urge you all to have mamograms. It will save your life.

The card I have put on today is one that I made for my friend Patti Jo's birthday. The first one I have made for ages. I coloured her with distress inks. Hope you like it.

Update

Hi followers,

I have seen my Urologist and I have my left kidney removed the first week of September. Not long to wait thank goodness. I have not been able to eat anything. I have lost 10 kilo's recently which is 22 pounds. Doug is buying me some iceblocks today so hopefully I can suck on one of those. I had a bone scan yesterday and thank goodness there were no nasties. Monday I have a liver ultrasound for the lesions found there so all I need is good news there.
I can't wait to do craft again. Once I get my energy back after the operation there will be no stopping me.
Al the symtoms that  I have been having like the loss of appitite, dizzy head, continual cough and fevers are all to do with the tumour so I will be a new person when this is over.
thank you so much for your support.

Whats been happening

Sorry I haven't been posting for a little while. Since my hubby had the Liver cancer I have been struggling with my own illness. I have been ill for nearly three months and have had heaps of tests. I have had an infection in my system that has brought me very low and without energy. I am very low in Iron and have aneamia amongst other things.

Yesterday I had a chest, Abdomen and pelvic CT scan with dye through the veins. The results came straight through to my Doctor and I have been told I have Kidney cancer. Now I know you can live with one kidney. I thought to myself enough is enough. After having a double mastectomy for cancer two years ago and then my hubby having colon cancer and now has just got over liver cancer ones starts to wonder what is going on and when it will end. Don't get me wrong I am not complaining.

I am missing my craft so much ( NOW I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT THAT)and have not been able to color my new Spring collection. I want to go in the nautical comp for Magnolia-licious highlites but looks like it won't happen. The good thing is I already have an appointment at the hospital to see a Urologist so hopefully I will have an operation soon and have my appetite back.

Everything tastes horrible (even chocolate). As a matter of fact I now can't eat anything so hopefully that will be sorted soon. There are a couple of other things that still need to be looked into like lesions on the Liver which I am hoping will be nothing and a cyst on the spleen. The good news is that it is only in my right kidney and is not associated with the breast cancer. It is called Renal Cell Carconoma.

So with much regret I need to leave my blog for a little while. I want to thank everyone that have left comments. They have been so encouraging and uplifting. I appreciate every single one.

Tilda and Friend

At long last I have put a new card on. I must say it has taken me a long time.
Since my DH Doug had his operation (a roaring success) I have had some sort of infection in my body that just doesn't seem to want to go no matter what. I certainly have improved but find my energy levels are very low. I enjoyed making this card of Tilda with lamb. Little lamb looks not quite right in color but I wll practice some more. I actually used my Prismacolor pencils and white spirits for this one.

Wonderful news

What a month this had been.
To those who prayed for my darling hubby Doug I thank you so much. He had his operation on the 1st of this month where they removed nearly three quarters of his liver. Five days later he was out of hospital. Such an amazing recovery. The doctors at the hospital called him their miracle man. There was no sign of cancer in the area around the liver that was removed. An excellent sign of complete removal of any cancer.
We are so blessed and have a wonderful Lord. Each day is a blessing for us. He has a check up at the hospital on the 5th of next month and we are confident of an excellent report.

Now to get back to life and crafting yeh! God is good. all the time.

Explosion box and not such good news

Hi all,

Just to let you know what's happening in my corner of the world. Some of you would know that my hubby Doug has gone through cancer recently having a year of chemo, once every week and five weeks of radiation everyday. His last scan has shown that he nows has Liver metastisis which means it's a cancer that spreads to other organs. He will be having an operation to remove half his liver on the 1st of next month. It's very serious and a very dangerous operation because of where the cancer is. If he gets through this operation it will mean that he has an excellent chance of  a longer life. It has been a rather hectic week with Hospital appointments etc. Soon I will need to have a break while I look after Doug but hopefully I will still be able to get some projects done.
This is my explosion box. I think I am just in time with it. I really enjoyed making it.
I hope you like it. I don't normally use pre-made flowers choosing to make my own. These are ones I have made myself. I have colored all my Tilda's with distress inks keeping the outside of the box very plain.

Sorry for all the pictures.
